The Sustainable & Inclusive E-Mobility Catalyser Award celebrates the achievements of enterprises that have already demonstrated significant progress in addressing key challenges within the e-mobility value chain in Kenya and Uganda.
About the Award
This award recognises achievements to date towards a more sustainable and inclusive e-mobility value chain. 6-10 outstanding enterprises will be honoured with a prize of 5,000 EUR each, alongside access to a growth programme designed to enhance financial and operational models.
Challenges
This call focuses on three specific challenges within the e-mobility value chain: making electric mobility work for transport entrepreneurs, building value from the circular e-mobility economy and strengthening local production of components for electric 2- and 3-Wheelers.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be legally registered in Kenya or Uganda, have been operational for 1-4 years, have a commericial market-tested product or service that generates revenue und shows a clear growth ambition. The call targets companies between incubation and acceleration stage.

Applications must be submitted online via the link below until 13/04/2026. Applicants are required to fill out the requested information and to upload a pitch deck, basic financial overview (if available), a proof of registration, and any certificates from previous training programs (not mandatory).

Once. Your application should reflect your primary market. If you operate across both countries, describe your operations in both but apply as a single company. There is no separate process per country.
Not automatically. What matters is whether your solution has a credible, operational pathway into the e-mobility battery stream and whether your business model works specifically within that context. If e-mobility batteries are currently a minor or theoretical part of your model, this call is probably not the right fit yet.
Yes. The challenge does not require fully domestic supply chains. We are looking for companies actively reducing import dependence through local assembly, refurbishment, or component manufacturing, even if partially. Describe what you are building locally and what remains imported.
