On October 19, 2026, Siemens Stiftung, Viva con Agua, and the German WASH Network will host a stakeholder dialogue “Role of water in strengthening climate resilience of communities”. As part of the first Munich Climate Week, around 30 representatives from policy, business, academia, municipalities, foundations, and civil society, all working on water-related issues, will come together at Siemens Stiftung in Munich.
How can water help people, municipalities, and societies build resilience to climate change? The dialogue will explore this question through practical experiences and perspectives from different sectors and regions. Participants will share approaches, on how water contributes to climate resilience and sustainable development.
The exchange aims to make practical solutions more visible, strengthen partnerships, and connect local experiences with the international agenda on SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Key findings will feed into the Stakeholder Declaration currently being developed through a global consultation process ahead of the 2026 UN Water Conference in December.
The event contributes to the “Year of Water 2026,” and the #PassTheWater campaign. Led by the German WASH Network with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the initiative harnesses the unifying power of sport to advance the human rights to water and sanitation and build momentum ahead of the UN Water Conference at the end of this year.
