Climate Week NYC 2026: Climate Change Education in focus
Strategic roundtable, "Delivering Climate Literacy: "Addressing Disinformation & Advancing Adaptation”
As climate disinformation and climate impacts intensify, education and climate literacy are emerging as essential drivers of resilient, informed adaptation strategies. At Climate Week NYC 2026, the Office for Climate Education and Siemens Stiftung (foundation) will convene a strategic roundtable to explore how Climate Change Education can be placed at the heart of adaptation agendas.
It will also examine what this requires in terms of policy, partnerships, and international cooperation. The discussion comes at a crucial moment, as education gains greater visibility in national climate plans and the Action for Climate Empowerment agenda enters a critical review phase ahead of COP31 in November.
About the Event
The event builds on the Climate Change Education Dialogue hosted by the two organizations during London Climate Action Week in June 2026, where participants identified four priorities: stronger partnerships, empowered educators, meaningful youth engagement, and greater visibility for Climate Change Education.
The New York roundtable aims to bring insights from NGOs, policymakers, and philanthropic stakeholders into a broader international discussion. It will explore how climate literacy and education can become stronger levers for adaptation and more effective tools for countering climate disinformation. It will also examine how philanthropy, international assessment frameworks, and public policy can enable implementation at scale.
