With MINT me!, a regional network of extracurricular STEM education offerings was created for the Neckar-Alb region for the first time. The network was funded from September 2022 to February 2026 as part of the BMBF funding initiative MINT Cluster.” Siemens Stiftung was a project consortium partner.

MINT me! increased the visibility of extracurricular STEM offerings in the Neckar-Alb region and connected stakeholders from science, schools, business, and extracurricular education. The aim was to give students low-threshold access to hands-on learning opportunities and inspire them to pursue vocational training and degree programs in STEM fields.

The new MINT me! portal brings together regional offerings, facilitates access to student labs and other learning spaces, and provides digital learning materials as well as information on career and study orientation.

Contribution of Siemens Stiftung

Siemens Stiftung contributed its expertise in digital STEM education to the projet. As a consortium partner, it was responsible for developing the blended learning component and supported the conception of the MINT me! portal.

Together with the project partners, digital preparation and follow-up materials as well as freely usable Open Educational Resources (OER) were developed. They help teachers link student lab visits with classroom learning and connect digital learning formats with experimental learning.

Results

Over the course of the project, several thousand students were reached through the participating student lab offerings. At the same time, existing offerings were further developed and new collaborations established that will continue to have an impact beyond the project period.
