What is the role of art and culture in public places – during the pandemic and beyond? The CHANGING PLACES / ESPACIOS REVELADOS series of digital dialogs in Lima provides culture enthusiasts and the city’s residents space to explore this question.

The first round in the the dialog series took place from June to December 2020 and reached nearly 30,000 viewers on Facebook. The seven live discussions focused on subjects such as sustainable and inclusive cities, urban inequality, markets as places to meet and create, and the role of art in social cohesion.

Highlights from this first round of discussions can be seen in a new video complication.

The series continues on 18 March 2021 at 6 p.m. (PET). The kickoff session of the second round focuses on “Mujeres, memoria y ciudad” (women, memory, and the city). A live broadcast of the discussion will be streamed on the project’s Facebook page.

The digital dialogs are part of the CHANGING PLACES / ESPACIOS REVELADOS project in Peru, a Siemens Stiftung initiative in collaboration with Centro Cultural de la Universidad del Pacífico and Goethe-Institut Peru. For the project, more than 20 artists work with vacant areas and buildings in Lima on activities and art that create space for shared experiences, encounters, and interaction.
