Opening up
new perspectives on society

We are strengthening art that voices objections, demonstrates alternatives and stimulates dialog in society.

Societies are increasingly finding themselves overwhelmed by fragmentation and inequality. This makes understanding and cooperation all the more essential. Since art has repeatedly motivated us to work along the fault lines of society, we firmly believe that confident cultural scenes have a decisive influence on sustainable development. Artists create spaces and spark debates in which a society communicates about itself and its future. This is why we stand up for art that experiments and forges links. Together with our partners, we try out new forms of community and make people curious about how art follows its own rules.

Way of working

Shared spaces:
Creating opportunities for action

Through projects in urban and social contexts, in public spaces, or in vacant buildings, we create spaces for experimentation in cultural practices. In these settings, art fosters spaces for social interaction and reflection where experiences of participation and belonging become possible, meanings are negotiated, and social issues come to light.

Cultural diversity:
Strengthening exchange

Societies—like ecosystems—thrive on diversity. This requires sensitivity to different forms of knowledge, life stories, and modes of expression, as well as spaces where they can flourish. Together with local partners, we develop projects that promote intercultural and transdisciplinary exchange.

Regenerative Change:
Encouraging new perspectives

Through our work, we aim to encourage social and ecological transformation. Artistic practices are an important part of cultural ecosystems and foster a sensitive understanding of the needs of people and other living beings with whom we share a deep connection. Through projects that pursue locally rooted approaches, we contribute to this culture of care.

Projects

We are creating spaces for dialog and cooperation through cultural projects and platforms that span national borders.

We carry out our cultural work in collaboration with partners in Latin America and Africa, focusing on regional and international connections. Through site-specific artistic initiatives and platforms for collaborative learning and work, we foster exchange and cooperation among cultural communities.

LA ESCUELA___

LA ESCUELA___ is both an art project and an art school. With no roof and no walls, the school leaves the framework of familiar institutions and addresses the social realities that surround it. The LA ESCUELA___ program is a hybrid one: Collaborative learning communities in public space are created through art actions in Latin American cities and a dedicated online platform.

Confluencias

The Andean region is rich in natural habitats, yet also deeply affected by their exploitation and climate change. The interdisciplinary project Confluencias creates new spaces for exchange, artistic research, and collective action. The focus is on the fundamental question: How do we as a society understand our place within the natural systems—and how can we rethink it?

Partners

Close partnerships and co-creation enable projects that have an impact in the local context.

Each project is developed within a specially curated network of partners. In doing so, we collaborate with local, national, and international cultural institutions, universities, foundations and funding organizations, government agencies and ministries, NGOs, and neighborhood organizations.

Since our activities take place exclusively within the framework of our own programs and selected partnerships, we do not award project grants.

Past Project Initiatives

Music In Africa

Music In Africa is a pan-African online portal that connects the music scenes of all African countries and serves as a central platform for information and exchange, featuring news, artist profiles, professional development opportunities, and streaming services.

Changing Places

The Changing Places urban project revitalized vacant buildings and public spaces in Latin American cities through artistic interventions, with the aim of creating new perspectives on urban lifestyles, cultural heritage, and community life.

Terreno Común

Terreno Común (Common Ground) provided artists from Latin America and Europe with a shared workspace and research environment where they could collaborate and develop new ideas through residencies, urban interventions, and collaborations.

SUR Akademien

As part of the SUR Academies initiative, three international academies for theater, dance, and live arts were established in Latin America to provideearch, development, and interdisciplinary exchange.
