Siemens Stiftung in future with two Managing Directors
In future, the Siemens Stiftung will be managed by two full-time operative Board Members plus, as in the past, a CFO working on a pro bono basis. At its meeting in London on 19 September, the Siemens Stiftung Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Nathalie von Siemens, currently Corporate Development Executive Siemens AG, and Rolf Huber, currently Corporate Communications and Government Affairs Siemens AG, as Managing Directors of the foundation. Georg Bernwieser retains his position as Chief Financial Officer of the Siemens Stiftung. Dr. Nathalie von Siemens will also act as spokesperson for the Board.
Ulrike Wahl has been Managing Director since September 2009, playing an important role in shaping the foundation's policy and strategy in the areas of basic needs & social entrepreneurship, education and culture in the focus regions of Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Germany/Europe. She is stepping down as Managing Director at her own request. From a base in Latin America, Ulrike Wahl in future will be implementing the foundation's projects in this region and driving the strategy for the Latin America region forward on behalf of the Board.
Peter Löscher, President of the Board of Trustees and President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens AG, thanked Ms. Wahl for her excellent work in the operational management of the foundation: "On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to express our appreciation for the very successful way in which she has built up the Siemens Stiftung and shaped its policy over the first three years of its existence. The foundation's clear strategic direction is an excellent base the future Board can build on in expanding its activities to promote sustainable development and education."
Dr. Nathalie von Siemens will be taking up her new position on 1 January 2013, Rolf Huber will assume his new role on 1 October 2012. At the end of this year, Dr. Stephan Heimbach, who has been working as the foundation's pro bono CEO in its formative years, will be stepping down from his position and resigning his seat on the Board. Peter Löscher thanked Mr. Heimbach for the work he has performed as CEO of the Siemens Stiftung in the important early phase since the foundation's establishment.
