What is the "Little Scientists’ House" approach?

Science and technology education is becoming increasingly important in our society. In 2006, the educational initiative Little Scientists´House arose form the need to support these areas specifically as a partnership project of the Helmholtz Association, Siemens Stiftung, Dietmar Hopp Stiftung, and McKinsey & Company.

The founders of the initiative sought to provide children from the beginning with a high-quality education and thus sustainably improve their future learning opportunities at school and in their professional life.

The non-profit Little Scientists’ House foundation is a committed national initiative for educating preschool and primary school children in the areas of science, mathematics, and technology. With its offers, the foundation helps educational experts accompany young boys and girls on their discovery journey through everyday life. Partners of the foundation are the Helmholtz Association, Siemens Stiftung, Dietmar Hopp Stiftung, Deutsche Telekom an the auto city Wolfsburg. It is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

    The Little Scientists’ House foundation and sustainably anchors the everyday encounter with science, mathematics, and technology in all preschools and primary schools in Germany. It is committed to improving educational opportunities for boys and girls in these areas.
  • Continuous training for educational professionals in local networks
    The foundation offers educationalprofessionals practical support with continuous training in strong local networks, diverse materials, and suggestions. Parents and other educational partners are involved.
  • Positioning Germany as a knowledge area
    The sparked enthusiasm for scientific phenomena and technological issues contributes to the long-term supply of young professionals in corresponding occupational fields. The Little Scientists’ House also offers its experience to other participants abroad, helping to position Germany as an educational and knowledge location.
