Nina Smidt, current Director of International Planning and Development at ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius and President of the American Friends of Bucerius, will join the Siemens Stiftung Board of Directors from 31 March 2020, taking over the role currently held by Dr. Nathalie von Siemens.

In Nina Smidt, Siemens Stiftung has added an excellent director to its ranks. Her international experience in the non-profit sector is an excellent fit for the role, which will see her join Rolf Huber and CFO Klaus Grünfelder in shaping the future of Siemens Stiftung. Ms. Smidt will begin her duties in Munich on 15 March.

Ms. Smidt has held executive positions at ZEIT-Stiftung and its institutions since 2006. She was CEO of Bucerius Education at Bucerius Law School, has served as President of the American Friends of Bucerius in New York for more than seven years, and is currently Director of International Planning and Development at ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius. ZEIT-Stiftung extended its congratulations to Ms. Smidt on her new position: “I am glad to hear that Ms. Smidt will be joining the Board of Directors at Siemens Stiftung in March because her vision and remarkable knowledge will be put to good use at a large non-profit foundation,” said Professor Michael Göring, Chairman of the Board of Directors at ZEIT-Stiftung.

With the support of the Siemens Stiftung Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, Nathalie von Siemens announced she is stepping down as Managing Director on 31 March 2020 after seven years in the role. Going forward, Ms. von Siemens will concentrate on her committee work within the business and civic sectors in addition to spending more time with her family.

Ms. von Siemens led the Education and Culture Working Areas at Siemens Stiftung. She worked to provide people with the ability to shape their own future through innovative STEM education that teaches creative problem solving and values in addition to cultural projects that promote dialog as a central skill in thriving societies.

Berthold Huber, President of the Siemens Stiftung Board of Trustees, commended her work: “Ms. von Siemens’ devotion to impact-oriented efforts provided a clear direction to the foundation’s work in Latin America, Africa, and Germany and positioned Siemens Stiftung as a reliable partner in cross-sector and international collaboration.”

The Board of Trustees, Board of Directors, and the entire staff at Siemens Stiftung look forward to working with Ms. Smidt when she joins the foundation in March. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. von Siemens for seven years of trusting and successful collaboration and wish her the best in all that lies ahead for her professional and personal future.
