Partnership with MINT-EC
Since the publication of the PISA study, we’ve known that the instruction in mathematics and the natural sciences provided in German schools is inadequate. Girls, in particular, often feel at a disadvantage in these fields and select other subjects instead. Fewer and fewer young people are choosing careers in technology and science. This development requires committed action by all the parties responsible. For this reason, the Siemens Stiftung supports the MINT-EC association with a wide array of projects.
As part of its network, the MINT-EC association promotes education in the areas of mathematics, natural sciences and technology at 146 secondary and comprehensive schools in Germany as well as one German school abroad in Turkey. These mathematics and natural sciences excellence centres act as beacons in the school landscape. To promote and ensure the further development of the schools and information sharing between them, various types of support such as training seminars, competitions and other events are offered together with partners.
