On March 11, 2009 the “Day of digital learning” will take place throughout Germany. Digital learning and teaching is strongly gaining importance, and internet, new media and learning platforms have become conceptualised at school. With this promotion day, the “Digital School of Bavaria” and its partners want to call attention to the importance of the new learning and teaching culture – because pupils have to be familiarized with the digital world at an early age.
To cope with this new teaching culture, teachers need to have access to up-to-date material and opportunities for further training in using digital media. The teacher workshops of the Siemens Stiftung concentrate on exactly that topic: Using the Siemens media collection on CD-ROM, teachers are given tips and suggestions on how to prepare and give lessons using digital media successfully. The workshops focus mainly on scientific subjects and are based on German teaching material and therefore only held in Germany.
