Who can use the Electro-Lab Kit?
The Electro-Lab Kit is available in German and English. Initially, only schools in Germany will be able to apply for an Electro-Lab Kit. Outside of Germany, the kits are only issued in conjunction with a teacher’s continuing education seminar that explains how to use the experiment materials in the classroom.
The Electro-Lab Kit abroad
The first teacher trainings on the subject of “Innovative student experimentation sets in science teaching” were held at the Cape Town German School and at three other high schools in Cape Town at the end of 2009. The teachers were given an insight into the various possible uses of experimentation sets in the classroom and had the opportunity to carry out experiments by themselves with the provided experimentation materials.
Additional teacher trainings were held in 2010 in South America. The first to start the trainings was the continuing education for teachers at German schools abroad in Costa Rica in spring 2010. In autumn there were workshops in Peru and Argentina.
In 2011, scheduled workshops with the Electro-Lab Kit in Africa will take place. At the beginning of march an education course for teachers was held in Johannesburg together with the German School in Pretoria. A workshop in the Egyptian capital Cairo will be in May, where teachers from the German schools abroad in Egypt and Lebanon will participate. For the end of the year further teacher trainings for the handling of the Electro-Lab Kit are planned.
