Experimento is an international educational initiative of the Siemens Stiftung focusing on preschool, primary school and secondary school educators. It is based on the principle of learning through discovery: The experiments teach children to explore natural phenomena on their own and understand the relationship between science and technology. Experimento offers a practical, diverse, curriculum-oriented selection of topics and experiments developed and prepared in collaboration with experienced educational partners and evaluated and adapted by experts.
With its international project Experimento, the Siemens Stiftung is continuing its commitment to education in Europe, Africa and Latin America, seeking to make a meaningful contribution to improving training and continuing education opportunities for education experts in the field of science and technology and thus strengthening career opportunities for young people. After all, sound scientific education is a lever for the economic and social development and for the future of every country in the world.
The concept’s elements are:
Students work independently, exploring natural phenomena and learning to understand the relationship between science and technology.
Experimento focuses on the topics of energy, environment and health. Its contents reflect global issues, such as the greenhouse effect, renewable energies or drinking water production. The experiments build on each other – from preschool to graduation – and enable pupils to keep on expanding their knowledge.
Experimento | 4+, Experimento | 8+ and Experimento | 10+ are currently being tested in pilot projects in Germany, South Africa and several countries of Latin America (see global launch).
All support materials are available in English and German, and most are also available in Spanish. The instructions and numerous supplementary materials are also offered in virtual form online for educators in the Siemens Stiftung media portal.
