Little Scientists' House

Little Scientists' House

The Siemens Stiftung supports the "Little Scientists' House"

“Tomorrow’s experts start young!” With this in mind the Little Scientists' House, or Haus der kleinen Forscher as it is called in German, began operating at the end of October 2006. In a nationwide initiative it promotes the spirit of research among girls and boys of preschool and elementary school age and familiarizes them with natural sciences, mathematics and technology in their everyday life.

With its involvement the Siemens Stiftung is helping educationalists to discover and research the world and its everyday phenomena together with the children. The Little Scientists' House raises children’s enthusiasm for natural phenomena and technological issues, priming in the long term future young talent for their vocational lives.

The Little Scientists' House is a collaborative project – the first of its kind – between business, academia and government under the patronage of Professor Johanna Wanka, the Federal Minister of Education and Research. This education initiative is sponsored by the Helmholtz Association, Siemens Stiftung, Dietmar Hopp Stiftung and Deutsche Telekom Stiftung with support from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The activities of the Little Scientists' House already extend to over 20,000 establishments throughout Germany. The commitment of the Siemens Stiftung to this project aims to help to expand access for children to phenomena, and their interrelationships, from the fields of natural sciences, mathematics and technology, and to improve children’s educational opportunities in these fields on a sustained basis.
