Escena Sur is a new forum for performing arts that offers theatrical artists from Latin America and Europe a joint working platform in Buenos Aires. It combines a temporary academy for artistic exchange and transfer of knowledge with an artistic research and development lab. The forum, founded by the Siemens Stiftung and THE – Association for Latin American Theater, acts at the intersection between the private and the public sphere where art arises and relates to the general public.

Four-week intensive seminar to develop topical pieces of theater in Buenos Aires
(July 19 – August 13, 2010)
Escena Sur kicks off with a four-week program from July 19 – August 13, 2010 at different locations around Buenos Aires. The first edition of this temporary academy, now to be held annually, comprises an author workshop for young dramatists, a series of lectures by both renowned and young playwrights and an interdisciplinary research project to explore issues of “the public.”
