The Siemens Stiftung identifies and initiates projects so as to develop and expand them in collaboration with policymakers, business leaders and civil society institutions.
The work of the Foundation focuses on initiatives at the local level, financial independence and training. The aim is to apply technical solutions in order to eliminate deficits in the essential services of water, energy and waste management and to thereby enable a life of human dignity. The main objective is to maximize the community impact – namely, to improve the overall quality of life and the social structures.
Here social entrepreneurs play an important role, because they improve basic services in developing and emerging countries through sustainable business models and empower people to become actively involved in their own economic and social environment. This provides successful alternatives to traditional development cooperation.
The Siemens Stiftung also supports networks that promote the interregional sharing of social entrepreneurial experience to help adapt established approaches to local conditions.
