
IBEKA (People Centered Business and Economic Institute) builds and installs community-owned mini-hydro power plants. There are two schemes: a) off-grid: small 0.5MW plants that provide the community with electricity for lighting and contribute to increasing local productivity (such as agribusiness), and b) larger, 2MW plants that are connected to the grid: the com- munity sells electricity to the national grid and benefits from a streaming monthly income.

Yansa Foundation provides access to the financial, technological, and educational resources required for rural communities to undertake large-scale renewable energy projects. Yansa partners with indigenous, fisherfolk, and peasant communities to build and operate large-scale wind farms, sell clean power to the grid, and finance social development programs. The mission is to contribute to a fair transition into a sustainable energy system, in which renewable energy becomes a driver for community-based development.

Green Power is an initiative that brings electricity to underserved rural populations in Kenya. By empowering communities to come together and invest in the construction and operation of local hydroelectric power plants and distribution networks, Nyaga Ndiga is helping increase the quality of life as well as productivity of individuals living in rural areas.
